Does Reolink work without internet?

Facts last verified · Every claim is linked to its source · Methodology

Answer: Yes, on your local network. Reolink says its Wi-Fi cameras keep recording to microSD with no internet, and Home Assistant confirms LAN live view and playback keep working when internet is blocked. No subscription is needed for local recording, and you can add cameras as a "Local Device" without a Reolink account. Push alerts and remote viewing stop until internet returns.

Reolink documents offline use for its Wi-Fi cameras 1, and Home Assistant's Reolink docs say the integration and app keep working on the LAN with internet blocked 2. Cameras can be added as a "Local Device" that is not tied to a Reolink account 3.

Does Reolink need a subscription?

No for local recording to microSD, an NVR or Home Hub; Reolink's cloud plan is optional. Reolink says its PoE cameras work without subscription fees. 45

Does Reolink work without Wi-Fi?

PoE models use Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi models need your local Wi-Fi, but not an internet connection, to stream on the LAN. 1

Do Reolink battery cameras work with Home Assistant?

Through a Reolink Home Hub or NVR; Home Assistant lists Argus 4 Pro among tested battery cameras. 2

Does Reolink support RTSP and ONVIF?

Most wired models do; Reolink keeps a list of which products support RTSP/ONVIF. 6 On many current models these ports ship switched off: enable RTSP and ONVIF once in the Reolink App or Client (Network > Advanced > Server Settings), which can manage the camera as a "Local Device" without a Reolink account. 73

Reolink RTSP/ONVIF setup note (added Oct 22, 2026): on many current Reolink models, RTSP and ONVIF (and on some, HTTP) ship switched off. Reolink says to enable them once in the Reolink App or desktop Client under Network > Advanced > Server Settings, or in the web interface where it is reachable78. For cameras attached to a Reolink NVR or Home Hub, enable the ports on the NVR/hub instead7. The App and Client can manage a camera as a "Local Device" using only its UID, username and password, so no Reolink account is needed for this step3. Home Assistant users report the same out-of-the-box behavior on recent firmware9.
